Mindfulness Practice Ideas
Immersion 2022 - Day 5
Sunday, September 18th, 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM EDT
Presenter: Janis Underwood
Description:
You attended a mindfulness retreat or workshop. You learned some techniques and have some experience. You even know why you’d like to practice. You’re motivated! But you get back into the swing of life and everything you learned seems so far away. It’s not easy to sit and practice with so much to do. Is it really possible to practice in daily life? Yes. Yes, it is. And in this workshop, I’ll share some simple ideas for when and how you can practice. We’ll also go through some exercises using See Hear Feel designed to help you find ways to practice that support you.
Takeaways:
•  The main outcome of the session is to give participants a few real-world examples and time to reflect. Participants should be able to walk away from the session with at least one new idea to try in the coming week.

•  Participants will learn about the different types of practice sessions available to them in the UM system including microhits and informal practice and how they support practice goals.

•  This session allows for creativity and acceptance to bubble up to the surface. Some participants may be able to uncover unrealistic expectations they may have about practice (and note them for exploration later), but it is not necessary for participants to glean this level of insight in order to make practice work for them.
